Metropolis City Flight

One 3D city, two ways to experience it. The towers are placed to match a frame of the 1927 city. Wherever the film saw a surface, the film's own image is used; everything else continues it in the same style. A and B use the same model, so you're comparing the ideas, not the build quality.

Speed

A · Cockpit flight

You start inside the film frame, then glide down the avenue between the towers, over two elevated roadways and past biplanes, toward the New Tower of Babel. There's one gentle lane change with a bank.

Gentle is 7 m/s, Film 9.5 m/s, Brisk 12 m/s. Every speed ends with the whole tower in view. The speed builds over 4 seconds and never jumps.

VR, seated: right trigger restart · left trigger change speed · stick press vignette on/off · grip switch to B

B · Tabletop city

The same city at 1:770 on a plinth at waist height, with biplanes circling and traffic moving on the roadways. A brass marker shows where the film's camera stood, with the frame it took floating above it.

VR, standing: walk around and lean in. grip switch to A

Comfort 1 to 10 and wow 1 to 10, for each speed you try, plus anything that broke the illusion.

[ASSUMPTION] Depths are inferred from one frame (Depth Anything V2 for near and mid; far landmarks by judgment). Facades the film never shows are inferred, not reconstructed.
